Published in 1977 and if it hasn't been republished it should be. This is a fun and informative book written by a professor who decided to become a naturalist full time and has been having a lot of fun ever since. This particular book (and his other's are just as good to read) tells of all sorts of people and lots of animals - all of whom he cherishes and studies
