From inside dust cover: 1941 - from London to supposed safety on a teak plantation in Burma. Young Nick arrives at his father's plantation eager to learn about timber and elephants. But trouble erupts. Japanese soldiers invade and Nick's father is taken prisoner and Nick forced to labor. Life grows more dangerous until friends help him to try to escape via elephants.
