I don't consider books like these "romance". I call them slice of life. But there is probably a better name for the genre. Any ideas? Or author recommends? Thanks.

this is an author I've heard about and almost checked out a few times but just never have so I'm really not sure who's similar. I know several years ago some of us were in the chick lit forum and discussing 'hen lit' so maybe if you searched by title of thread you could find that one..overall only a few really discussed them since most seem to be into total chick lit.

off the top of my head you might like susan wiggs' lakeshore chronicls..there's anothr author darn it that I can't remember and it was sorta about life - sheesh and I was wanting to check it out of the library again - think the lats name startd wtih M but can't swear to it. robyn carr has some that have romance but I thought were geared more to women's lives - sonoma summer or summer in sonoma...the 3 books in the grace valley trilogy that virgin river spun off of..dang i"m drawing a total blank but a coworker liked this type of book - where there's a romance maybe but it's about a strong woman or a woman discovering herself. bradford I think was one she liked.

I love this genre! I always look up "chick lit" when I am searching for something like this, and there is a Chick Lit forum.

Elin Hilderbrand is my favorite "chick lit" author. Nancy Thayer is very similar to Elin. I also recommend Jennifer Weiner, Barbara O'Neal, Cathy Lamb, Emily Giffin, and Sarah Addison Allen (only if you don't mind a little magic!) for chick lit authors. You may also want to try Stay by Allie Larkin - it will always hold a spot on my keeper shelf! PM me if your interested in more - these are just the ones I could think of quickly!

thanks LeeAnn - I went by the library and got Stay! sounded good - I have  german shepherd and lab so maybe I can relate! I still can't remember the one I started and didnt' have time to read - I remember it being about at least 2 women - one starts out getting ready for a trip - her parents are overbearing and her mom decides to do something with her fridge and acts tired then the dad jumps al over the daughter for not doing it and criticizes everything. I think she's married or was married and her parents were in her entire marriage. dang can't remmber the author - pretty sure I saw her on here somewhere.
