I can't believe I have FINALLY finished this book. Normally, I am a pretty quick reader but this book took me about a month. Not because its boring, but as the cover says, "Fascinatingly complex"- just about every paragraph makes reference to at least 5 or 10 people that if you are not really familiar with British politics, you have to try to remember who is who. I'm not British so I didn't know about 85% of the names. Most of the events I had only heard on a rather limited basis. I kept flipping back to refresh my memory.

Elizabeth has seen everything and met everyone. Her life sounds glamorous, but also tedious. How she keeps up- where she finds her energy- is just amazing.

This book was published about a year before Diana's death. While not showing Diana as the saint she has been painted since her death, there are indications of sympathy for her for how she was treated by the Royal Family.

What a life this woman has had! A life the rest of us can only dream about. Would I trade places with her? Not on your life. Read this book- you will probably feel the same way after.
