Evidently they are not paying their authors, and haven't for almost a year. There's so much other great paranormal & erotica stuff out there, please consider those before lining ECs pockets when they won't reimburse authors.

Good post Melissa,

One would hope that companies like Amazon, Barnes and Noble and others would stop carrying the books to support the authors.  So many people buy spur of the moment that without a large ruckus they won't know.

Please note that EC took Dear Author to court about this issue. DA blogged an article about the rumors. It got ugly.

I'm not stepping in that mess.

The last newsletter (december of maybe january) I got from Shiloh Walker at the end she kindly asked her fans not to purhcase her books publised by Ellora's Cave.  One author stating it I think ok maybe its a rumor, maybe there just pissed about something that happened and trying to get back.   However there are now way to many authors coming out stating they haven't been paid for it not to be true.  And with the  Romance Writers of America suspending them from their "good publishers list" there has to be a glint of truth, the authors would have had to taken proof to the RWA in order to get them to investigate the rumors.

Here's the blog post Shiloh Walker posted about it too http://www.shilohwalker.com/website/2016/01/repost-notchilled-regarding-certain-titles/

I haven't been purchasing EC since it started not even the freebies they put on Amazon.  Though before this started I was only purchsing authors I was already reading.

Dear Author blogged this update on their lawsuit. When I look at the price tag for blogging about the rumors and problems? Oh my.

Emily I hadn't read her blog I had just been following what authors I followed had said.  No wonder she was sued, she sould have stuck to the facts of her problems. (but since she was still under covers I guess she couldn't)  Instead she blogged mostly about how Tina Engler was stealing the money from EC!!!  It was in intersting read but she didn't back it up with real evidence.  And it says under her info that she's a Lawyer?  She should have known better especially since that same article said EC had been involved in lawsuite some they started, once sue happy always sue happy!  I think the authors like Shiloh Walker, Jennifer Kacey who stated what happend to them should be fine.  They didn't attack the boss.  They will have factual emails, and bankstatements to back up there claims.  I'm sure all new contracts will come with some legal junk about how they are not allowed to disucss thier payments.  Becuase they are going to need some new authors if they survive this.

Alice I think I read somewhere that several authors were starting a class action.  Only time will tell.  A large mojority of there authors have already found new publishers or are self publishing.

Getting your electronic rights back looks like it can be a nightmare. Kensington kept selling EBooks after returning the rights. I am very concerned that EC might do the same. It looks like EC was offering older books for free after the authors were suppose to receive the rights back.

EC was one of the first publishers. Before folks had any coaching in contracts.

DA did have reports from authors who requested being anonymous. The wording could have been more careful. But rumors were flying right and left when she posted it.

I feel so sorry for the small time authors. The beginners, caught in this mess.
