This is an excellent read about a man who grew up on a plantation in the South around the turn of the century. The black folks working on this plantation were so isolated they didn't even know that they weren't actually (legally) slaves anymore. It is this man's story of how he came to escape the plantation (after his dad sold him to this plantation owner as a young child) and how God provided for him and his wife as he left to build a new life for himself. Heart warming and amazing.
