The Emigrants Author:Vilhelm Moberg Book One introduces Karl Oskar and Kristina Nilsson, their 3 young children, and 11 others who make up a resolute party of Swedes fleeing the poverty, religious persecution, and social oppression of Smland in 1850.
I have always loved reading about the trials of the people who came to the United States before us. Those early settlers left places and families that would never be seen again by them on this side of heaven. It amazes me how the women especially survived those challenging times. This book did not disappoint me.
