Highly recommend this book, if you can find a copy. Lucinda is a captive of Afghan warriors for two years. She's unexpectedly rescued by Rashid, an Indian gun trader. They form a close relationship on the way back to India, but after he safely delivers her back to the British community he disappears. She returns to England and meets Edward, a foppish English lord, who somehow reminds her of Rashid, but the two men couldn't be further apart, could they? Can't say much more without giving away the plot, but this is a very good historical romance with lots of intrigue and unusual settings.
