Magical fantasy. The moving story of a young man's strange romance in the "Enchanted," an actual, magical place in the northern Maine woods. A novel of a young man starting a wilderness farm, the encroaching forest, adjustment to marriage, etc. This book is a mixture of myth, nature, and modern backwoods Maine life.

"This weaves an Indian myth about people who change to or from animals into a simple story of a man who is restoring a farm in the Maine Woods. Characters are well drawn, it is evocative of place, and the clues to the myth are introduced by nuance; delicately written, and not overwritten, it makes a pleasant little story in which love redeems, possibly better suited for adults although accessible for some children." --Truman Price.
