I am a huge mystery/crime/thriller fan and some of my favourite authors are British so I thought I would share them with you: Mark Billingham - writes a series centered around a London policeman called Tom Thorne. I love this series, and cannot wait to read the new one. He has also written a standalone called In The Dark. Mark started life as a stand up comedian and is a very funny guy and is also on Facebook. Simon Kernick - writes thrillers based in England. All are standalones with the exception of 2. I first read Relentless which I couldn't put down as it was so fast paced! Peter James - Writes a series based on a Sussex policeman Roy Grace. I cannot wait for the next book as the last one ended in such a way that I was like "what, wait, whyyyyy????"
I'm not very good at writing reviews, but if you love crime centered thrillers then if you can, please please give these guys a go! And - apologies, if you all know about them already! |

Agreed about Mark BIllingham, love his books! I haven't read the other two you mentioned. Some of my British favorites: Stephen Booth, police procedural set in the Peak District with Ben Cooper and Diane Fry as the main characters. Mo Hayder--very gritty, gory series featuring DI Jack Caffrey Jill McGown--police series featuring DI Lloyd and DS Hill--the author died a few years ago so there are no more of those coming. And of course, plenty of the old standbys--Colin Dexter's Inspector Morse, P.D. James's Adam Dalgliesh, and a whole host of others. Cheryl |

One of my favorites is Paul Johnston - The Matt Wells series. The first book in that series is call The Death List I could not put it down. This author has other series too but I have not read them yet. Looking forward to reading the books that were mentioned above I have some of them in my TBR Mountain. Tammy |
