As a huge fan of the Twilight series, I really enjoyed Pamela Briggs' Mercy Thompson series. It was the first series I read after Twilight that had me as hooked as Meyer's books. They were a little heavier on the action, lighter on the romance, but the love story was still compelling and the characters, especially Mercy, are all excellent. And, like Twilight, it's written in the first person (a style I usually shy away from, but I didn't mind it in either of these series). The books, in order, are: Moon Called, Blood Bound, Iron Kissed and Bone Crossed. They're paranormal, with vampires, werewolves, fae and shapeshifters. One of the things I really liked about them is that Mercy is a Christian. It's not a point that's dwelled upon at length or anything, but it's part of her character. All four books are on my keeper shelf and a fifth is due to be released in February. Hope this helps!
