I was diagnosed with epilepsy after a year of scary fainting spells - two of them occurred while driving, with my car sustaining significant damage both times... I had gone with the epilepsy undiagnosed, and was very scared about the driving - and then I had another seizure (not while driving) mid-December. Finally, I went to a good neurologist, and he gave me the diagnosis and appropriate medicine. I've been seizure-free since then. (First, I had gone to an uncommunicative neurologist... then a few cardiologists. Since my sister's fainting issues are heart-related, we thought mine might be, too. We switched back to brain after my last big faint)... The second episode of fainting in the car, I decided to leave unclaimed, since my insurance was already exorbitant. Risky, but it was the choice I made. Fast forward a few months, and I eensily scratch my neighbor's car while backing out one morning (Oh, yes, I do have depth perception issues on top of all this!)... he offers to let me pay off the record. I couldn't afford the price at the time, and didn't think to ask him if I could pay in installments. Hindsight is so clear, after all. Well, he contacted his insurance with my go-ahead, and my insurance now knows that I sustained an eensy scratch from his car... but they don't know about the much more significant damage from the second seizure. So, now I have to get my car inspected (by March 12) or cancel collision coverage. I can't do the latter yet, because I'm still paying off the car for another 4 months. So, I'm going to pay someone to look at my car so I can pay even more! I'm really worried. I can't really afford much of this, although I'm hanging on to my tax refund to help a little along the way... things are feeling pretty bleak. I also won't be driving the car for another 4 months, so I'm paying to have it just sit there... but because of the behind the wheel seizures as well as two other accidents, it wouldn't be easy for me to just re-sign up with insurance in another 4 months. :/ Last Edited on: 2/24/08 9:38 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
