This is a POWERFUL story. I only picked up a copy after I saw the revival done in 2007 in London's West End with Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths. There are many "themes" that run through this story, all of them powerful and disturbing. It has the power to shake the foundations of your social understanding if you're willing to read what's cleverly hidden in the subtext of the dialogue.

I was floored by the profound look at life, psychology, sex and consequence this story brought to life for me. An all time classic for me, and in my top 10 books EVER!

Read it.
