Do they need to be read in order? I have to send the 2nd one to a friend and I haven't read the first yet lol If there are not huge plot lines I don't mind reading them out of order....but if something big with the couple happens in the first or whatever I'd like to read it

I've read (and loved) both of them.  I don't think you necessarily have to read them in order.  The main characters in the 2nd one are introduced (both to the reader and each other) in the first one, but there's no big mystery or anything you need to know before reading it.

My daughter just finished the second one without reading the first one (with no problem whatsoever) so yes, they can be read out of order. She reads things out of order all the time though ... it's a not a big thing with her (like it is with me - lol).

Well, if you can read them in order, I would. The main characters from the second book meet for the first time in the first book. So if you have the option, I'd read the first book before reading the second book.
