Can anyone reccommend some good ones? I don't want the vampire/werewolf/other worldly types. I just want good old erotica romance between a flesh and blood man and woman. I used to read vampire romances but just can't get into them anymore and never have been able to get into werewolf or other plant type stuff.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what qualifies as erotica romance but here are some I consider 'hot' and have 'regular' people in them! I'm not into the paranormal much either though I keep trying it here and there(the books that is!)

Jory Strong's Crime Tells (3 so far and characters show up in other books) Lyric's Cop(very dominant male), Cady's Cowboy(again dominant but more 'gentle' type male, esp compared to guy in lyric's cop), Calista's Men (woman with 2 men so if that bugs you might not care for this one but it was a fave of mine - twins brothers one very dominant and the other dominant but more demonstrative in being 'loving'..thought it was done tastefully since both love the woman) Ellora's Cave publisher

LIsa Marie Rice's Midnight series - not everyone likes these but the're rather short ellora's cave titles and the events overlap. Midnight Man, Midnight Run(least favorite woman in this one), and Midnight Angel. She also has a few other but Dangerous Lover is the other one I like though it ends sorta abruptly. Woman on the Run was ok but I don't care for stories about witness protection program and stuff going wrong whichexplains the title!

Lucy Monroe- don't these are 'erotica' but they're great reads and have some hot scenes in them. 'Ready', 'Willing', and 'and Able' go together then a new series starts with 'Satisfaction Guaranteed'. The 2nd in that series, 'Deal With This' ties with another previous book titled 'The Real Deal'. Again, these aren't as explicit probably as the ellora's cave but they're good

Lora Leigh writes pretty hot too (make sure of the name 'cause another author with a very similar  name doesn't wrtie as well IMO) titles I've liked of hers include the Seal books (2 are in anthologies and 2 by themselves and think there's a 5th out or coming out) ;Dangerous Games is the 2nd but can be read alone. Hidden Agendas is 4th and the other 2 are in 'honk if you love real men' and 'real men do it better'. I alos liked her menage book (woman and husband with another man) Forbidden Pleasure. she also has 2 Nauti books with a 3rd due out but these 3 cousins share women though not sure if they actually s hare in the story since I"m still reading the 1st - Nauti Boy is the first, then I think it's 'nauti nights'..nauti dreams isn't out yet.

I'm hooked on Shannon McKenna.  Her books aren't just sex scenes with a bit of unimportant nonsense in between.  They have really good plots and really hot sex scenes. I find her similar to Lora Leigh w/o so much of the BDSM aspect that LL is fond of in some books.  LL's Nauti and Tempting Seals series are really good non paranomals.  I'm not into the vampires and werewolves either.

Bella Andre is another good one.

I just read my first Shannon McKenna and LOVED it.  Very hot with a great story.  I think you suggested it to me too, Mary.  Thanks for the tip.

I also like the Jory Strong trilogy that Susanna mentioned very much.

My favorite Ellora's Cave book so far is Dance Of The Seven Veils by Cris Anson.  It is the first in a trilogy but it can easily stand alone.  I read the third one, Dance of the Crystals and it was just okay to me.  The second one, Dance of the Butterfly, is on order but not here yet so don't know how good it is.

I also vote for the Lisa Marie Rice Midnight trilogy.  A lot of people like Sarah McCarty.  She writes books set in the American West (most are Ellora's Cave titles).  The one I read, Promises Linger, was good with a lot of story and a wonderful hero.

okey dokey..off to check out that 'dance of the seven veils' LOL! I just got some of Shannon McKenna's and think I'm going to like them! also just now have my first 'bella andre' book(thanks Mary!)

also, I've read 2 of Erin McCarthy's and they were pretty spicy - smart mouth and mouth to mouth...some spicy love scenes with a story and non-wimpy women. I liked mouth to mouth's story better but it's a toss up to which ws hotter.

Bella Andre has some good sexy stuff, as does Emma Holly  (try All U Can Eat).   The authors mentioned by the previous posts are also good.  I have also recently gotten into Cherry Adair.

I've only read 5 of those you listed, Ashley, and have never heard of a lot of the others.  :-(

I'm with you Dawn! LOTS of new ideas to try out LOL! And I know Ashley knows her stuff! No telling how long it took them to narrow that list down either! I have Dangerous Lover and Nauti Nights and I've heard of Showalter and McCarty and Ward but haven't read anything by them...hmm...and here I am on an amazon diet!

Ashley,  if you liked Kiss of the Wolf by Morgan Hawke, I highly recommend her other title: Interstellar Service and Discipline: The Victorious Star.    It's really great.  Published by Loose ID.

This is a list of some authors I like off the top of my head. I don’t know how HOT you want them but I find these authors very steamy! I know some have been mentioned before but they are worth repeating

-Lora Leigh writes good contemporary ones but be careful to read the book description because she also writes some erotica that are paranormal romances.

-Lisa Marie Rice is also very HOT alpha heroes!

-Maya Banks- Ménage

-Sylvia Day- historicals another one is Susan Johnson but her earlier books are better

-Shayla Black- contemporary, very wild!

-Kimbery Zant- contemporary writes for New Concepts Pub.

-Opal Carew and Janice Maynard - heard they are good but have yet to read either of them

-Juliet Hastings-some of her books are pretty hot, she wrote for Black Lace

-Megan Hart-some of her books especially from Spice are great!

-Elizabeth Amber-I know you said not paranormal books this is but it was the most Erotic book I’ve read in years and I read a LOT of books, just thinking about it… whew!

-Also try some of the Secrets books by Red Sage they are erotic compilations

-Shannon McKenna is fabulous, instant rush, strong Alpha men

You might also want to check Ellora’s Cave, Aphrodisia, Siren, Loose ID, or Samhain websites they have a lot of HOT erotica

If you like historicals, Sylvia Day is great.  Loved Ask for It and Passion for the Game.  She's on auto-buy now.

Another idea would be to find some of the erotica games played in the past - some are still listed in the games section of the site. You can get some great titles there plus the links are there so you can get a peek at the offerings.

Wow. Thanks for this thread. I've been thinking about trying this genre and had no idea which author to try. I think I'll look for Shannon McKenna to start.

Those of you just starting Shannon McKenna-I want to warn you to probably not start out with her latest, "Extreme Danger" (or something like that...) It's a great book just like her others, but it was a lot "darker" than her others. It's a little like a Law and Order SVU episode (ie. people doing bad things to children) plus a hot romance.  Also, they will be a little better if you read them in order, IMO. The characters frequently re-appear in other novels.

Betsey, I have that book in my tbr lol

btw, if you (general you) want to try erotica, I would go with an erotic publisher published book. I know Shannon McKenna is hot but she is not a erotica author.

I think this was the thread that we were talking about Gabriel's Woman in. I just got it a few days ago from another PBS person and I'm finished with it. So if you anyone wants it, I posted it on my list.

It has been taken.
