I am a fan of Linda Lael Miller but this book fell short. The hero is one dimensional and lacks any personality at all and the heroine though has just a little more personality - but not much.
Kristin Meyers grew up with Prince Jascha in Cabriz and was always smitten with him. She ends up moving back to America to attend college and meets up with Zachary Harmon. She falls for Zachary and their affair ends in heartbreak for Kristin. Prince Jascha happens to show up and seduces her until she agrees to marry him. The Prince and Kristin return to Cabriz. Her fairy tale is about to come true.
Near her wedding to the Prince two events happen 1)there is about to be a civil war in Cabriz and 2) her future husband has a dark side and has lied to her and considers her a puta (whore).
Zachary travels to Cabriz to rescue Kristin. There is a jungle adventure that includes rebels, kidnappings, ransom and rescue.
Kristin and Zachary try to rekindle their relationship while trying to escape Prince Jascha, but can they? Is there any future for them? Will the Prince capture them and kill Zachary? Will they escape? What does the future hold?
In this one, Kristin is on the rebound from an affair with an ex-secret service agent and in an unstable country to marry their prince. She finds out that he's not the man he appears to be and changes her mind. In the meantime, the ex agent (Zach) decides to covertly help her flee the country. There are many adventures as they try to "Escape From Cabriz" and several heated romantic interludes. Another good one from Ms. Miller.
One naive American woman, (Kristin) one adveture-seeking person, (Zach) one embarrassed Prince, (Jascha of Cabriz) and one over protective father. Too many people in this equation when you consider the country Kristin is in is in turmoil. I like the fact that both Kristin and Zach were able to escape from the Palace twice, the second time by helicopter. I have to applaud Kristin's character for finally standing up to her over protective father after he dug into Zach's background and moving out of the house to write a book on her experiences in Cabriz. Zach finally learned to open up and Kristin's father finally learned that his daughter had a life and to accept Zach as is.
On the eve of her wedding to the Crown Prince of Cabriz, Kristen is having more than prewedding jitters. Her childhood friend has become a cold, distant stranger and she is caught in a crossfire. Ex-secret agent Zach arrives, but can he save her and save her heart from being broken?
Kristin Meyers was in a panic. Her impulsive decision to marry the exotic prince of Cabriz no longer seemed like a good idea. On the eve of their wedding, her fiance's palace was under attackby angry rebvels and he had turned into a coldhearted stranger. And there didn't seem to be any escape from the complicated mess.
Then Zachary Harmon showed up. Kristin and the secret agent had been lovers years before, but the affair had endedin heartbreak. Now he was risking his life to rescue her. All of the old chemistry was still there, but now there was something even more explosive than their relationship to worry about-escaping Cabriz alive.
