Henry Mitchell inspires and amuses fellow gardeners (armchair and otherwise) with this collection of his Washington Post essays. I'm constantly reassured by Mitchell's anecdotes that our gardens are never what we plans or hope for, but that it's the daily gardening catastrophes interspersed with small, lovely successes that keep us out there trying for perfection.
