As a former ex-pat who also lived in Greece, I found Zinovieff's book a wonderful homage to Athens and to its many faces, characters, and characteristics. She does a great job of weaving Greece's turbulent history into her story of life in Athens. She gives a glimpse into the life-loving Athenians and their magnificent city.
