You disappeared like a breath on a frosty winter day,
Melted like a snowflake on my skin,
Evaporated like a dewdrop on a rose,
Dissipated like a puff of smoke from a match,
Vanished like a vapor trail,
Faded away like the final strains of a symphony.
What magical incantations must I invoke to make you reappear?

I love the way you honor these earthly phenomena as magical rites...they truly are so exquisite, and so exquisitely sublime, that only the absence of a beloved summons them so honestly in poetry. I can see you imploring the night sky or the foggy morning to teach you such powers. Beautiful.

Eva, Thanks for your very kind feedback. Evanescence is such a great word; I just HAD to write a poem around it.
