I enjoyed reading about some of the incidents and stories that led up to the several shows that Norman Lear originated during my own younger life. Lear's own story of his rise to influence and fame is interesting. He shares many thoughts and sometimes intimate, sometimes too-much-info about happenings in his long life. His interests outside of entertainment may be news to some readers, making the man all the more intriguing.
