This book tells the story of man dealing with mortality. Roth addresses it so well, it takes on a very personal feeling, and truly makes you consider your own. Roth has a way of getting to the heart of an issue -- this is a large part of what makes him a national treasure. I recommend this book -- it's not very long of a read, but very well done. I also recommend Roth's "The Plot Against America" if you haven't read it. Stunning.

Profound work about death and life. What is the measure of a man's life? Themes of loneliness, aging, regret etc. abound in this work. A rather fast, albeit contemplative, read.
