Has any one gotten a chance to read this book yet?  I've read all her other books and really want to read this one but I don't really want to buy it.  I'm like the 100th person or something in line here with a NA for the weeks because Its not been posted yet.  So I was wanting to know if anyone else read her other two books (Heart Sick and Sweetheart) and this new one.  I want to know if it stacks up to the other ones or if it isn't as good.  I need to know if its worth paying for it to get to read it?

Keep in mind before you post about a library that I live in a small town that has a library but doesn't keep as many new books in it.  In fact most of the books don't get bought until there at least 5 to 10 months old.  This book will never be in my local library and there is not a place where i can request it from.  So if your only comment was to ask why I don't use the library I hope this answered that question.

I read an ARC of it a few months ago, and it is just as good as the first two.

Thanks i'm glad to know its just as good as the first two.  I really  enjoyed her first two books espically since she is a newer writer.  You know it was kind of like taking a new chance since she hasn't  written that many books.

If you didn't get the ARC would you have paid 24 for it though?  That is the cheapes I have found it, has any one seen it or bought it somewhere else where it was cheaper?

I probably would have paid $24 for it but couldn't really justify it as I was  #1 on the WL for it, so I knew I would get it fairly quickly once it came out.  Amazon is selling it new for $14.61.  You can also buy it used for about $11.10.

Thanks I'll look all of those places first.  I think i'm like 64th or something but its still on NA so I dont expect to get it for a while and i really wanted to read it.  I'll have to see Half.com and then amazon those prices sound better than the local book store.  I usually buy  at walmart but every walmart with in a 70 mile radius from me didn't have it which I found weird since they carried the first two.

Try to see if your library does Interlibrary loan.  I use it all the time here and I have a fairly good sized library available to me.

Well they do loans for the county which is about 5 librarys....but they call it one big system (there all connected).  So when you search the card catalog its all the librarys so they dont have it.  And I was told they would never get it.  I live in a small town like dot map small so its not a big deal.  I was just checking to see if it was as good as the others and since the answer was yes.  I'm probably going to have to buy it or wait for it on here.  Its frustrating but I can wait.  I'll just keep price checking until I find one I like.

Half.com was a good price of 9.99 but is the shipping high when you order there...also do they guarantee the order like amazon does?  I've never used it before so I don't know much about it, have you ever had any problems ordering from there.

I believe half.com's shipping is about the same as Amazon. It's been a while since I've ordered from either one, so I can't exactly remember.  I've also sold on both and found them to be about the same that way.  When I order through half.com I always pay through Paypal, which I prefer, and I've never had a problem at all.

That's too bad about your library not really participating in ILL.  I know when we were in Maine, I'd have been lost without it because the library was so small in the little town we lived in.

I do have to thank you though for bringing up this author.  The series sounds good.  I put the first one on hold at my library.  (like I actually NEED more authors to read...lol)

I found the first book when it came out in paperback at walmart.  I think i like the fact that she made the main character Archie so flawed.  He's a cop so you assume he's the good guy but he's so messed up from what he's been through he not realy a great person.  I like that his flaws make me like him more.  He is defiantly a very human character, he makes tons of mistakes, and I love that.

Most of the time you pick up PI or Cop mysteries and the Cop or PI is perfect at doing his job they hardly ever mess up.  They Kick but and Take names later. Do you know what I'm saying.  Its not really realistic for a cop or pi to be perfefct and never make mistakes.  They dont take down all the bad guys in the first round.

It's not really the counties fault our libraries don't get that much.  I live in the middle of missouri about 40 minutes south of the capital.  It is a very poor county and they do the best with the money they can get.  I usually take the new books I buy and donate them to our library after I have read them, especially the YA ones I read.  They are greatful to get them and that makes it better for others.

Some times I can get books from my college library but they don't really get books for normal use mostly reasearch books.  They do get some new ones for the english majors so I always check.

I keep my Doubleday & Mystery Guild bookclub accts open for those authors who first publish in hardback and I have to read them then. The regular prices are 50% off the publisher's price, but they often have sales such as buy 2 get 1 free, $9.99 selections, things like that. I often will preorder books during such a sale and that way I get them within the first week of them being published. I got my copy of "Evil at Heart" for around $13 including shipping.

I'm half way through the audiobook and think the story's gotten old. I hope for Cain to finally finish the Gretchen story and come up with something new. Don't want to read another Gretchen/Archie story.
