These workswritten on papyrus, parchment, and paperprovide a history of the text of the English Bible. The editors commentary offers insight into the historical details surrounding the texts, as well as the evolution of writing styles and techniques. The CD is accompanied by a 160-page supplemental booklet that contains Greek transcriptions and English translations of several key papyrological texts, including the Letters of St. Paul, The Book of Enoch, and Melito's Homily on a Passion.
The interactive medium allows users to move among textual information and images of selected texts; zoom in to see close-ups of these images; learn about changing writing styles and techniques; and follow a timeline of events that provides the historical context for each item presented. The CD-ROM will be of interest to members of religious organizations, a general audience interested in biblical studies, and scholars in the fields of papyrology, biblical studies, and medieval studies.
