I know that posting ex-library books are allowed, but I'm not sure if I should message the receiver beforehand. I sent an ex-library book awhile back and the receiver got upset because I didn't let her know. I bought quite a bite at library book sale and I would love to swap them after I read them. |

It's very kind of you to want to PM the person, but it really isn't your responsibility. Like Steve said, that's what RCs are for. As far as the site is concerned though, withdrawn library copies are a-okay. Last Edited on: 5/1/16 7:24 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Thank you. :) |

When I first joined, I'd send a PM letting people know if the book was ex-library. They all said no problem, so I finally stopped and have only had one person upset but they didn't have an RC. I do send out a lot of ex-library books, but most are in excellent condition. Pat |

When you start PMing people about books you often find you are left hanging...not everyone is on the site everyday and they might not see your PM and you are left not knowing what to do. People need RCs if they don't want ex-library books and if they don't know that, then it is a learning experience for them and you are under no obligation to return their credit. It is the requestor's responsibility to know what they are requesting and what is allowed. |

As a general rule I don't PM about my books. My books all meet postability requirements. If the requestor wants/does not want specific types of books, it is their responsibility to have an appropriate RC. I agree with all of the other posters. |

I don't PM about ex-library books. I've had one person get upset about receiving an ex-library book, but that was their own fault for not reading the terms and conditions. |

I bought quite a bite at library book sale I would say the only problem you might have is if you are leaving teeth marks on the books. |

I had someone get upset once because the cover was different then the one shown on my shelf. So the next time someone requested a book from me that was shown with a different cover, I sent them a PM. That person was fine with it. Since it clearly states that covers may be different, I just quit sending PMs. |

I PM about different covers too. Last time since the person was new to the site, I figured she might not know the cover could be different according to PBS rules. Turns out she did want the specific cover pictured because it's a book she read when she was younger and wanted a copy for sentimental reasons. Ex-library I'd probably just send without PMing. |

Thanks for the responses. I sent them all out without mentioning it and it went fine. |
