The Most Exciting Year of Our Lives Memoir of a World War II B24 CoPilot Author:Hyman Aaron Enzer Hyman Aaron Enzer was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on July 30, 1916. After graduating from Union College in Schenectady, New York in 1938, he worked as an aide to Senator Thomas Desmond of New York and then as a journalist for the Elizabeth (New Jersey) Daily Journal before joining the US Army Air Force in Europe. There he met his future wife, Sandra Solotaroff, and they were married in 1952 and had two children. Hy earned his Ph.D. in Sociology in 1962 and continued teaching until his retirement in 1987. Hy was also an active member of the Anne Frank Center USA Board of Trustees in New York City. This memoir recounts Hy's experience as a B-24 bomber co-pilot during WW II, including a harrowing experience when their plane was heavily damaged by flak and Hy and his pilot friend, Al Kiegel, landed the plane on one engine. The memoir was written as a series of letters to Margaret Kiegel, Al's daughter. The Introduction and Afterward, as well as the footnotes, were written by Rod Andersson, who assisted with Hy's care in the last year of his life. Hy Enzer passed away at the age of 95 on December 7, 2011. All proceeds from the sale of this small volume will be donated to the Anne Frank Center USA in New York City in Hy's memory.« less
