I have been 1of 1 wishers on a book since I put it on my WL  It says now 2 wishes granted last week.  HUH, but I'm still 1of 1

Then another book I have been 3 of 15 for a long time.  It says 5 wishes granted last week.  What gives here.  I am still 3 of 15.

I have not been offered either of these books.  This makes no sense to me.

They could have been posted directly to another members WL... sometimes people post to other members from their buddy lists, or off the WL forum threads.

That is weird! The only  thing I can think of, is if someone PM'd a buddy and said, "Hey, I notice you have XYZ book on your wishlist. I have a different version of the book, ISBN # 1234567890. If you put it on your wishlist, I'll post it directly to you if you don't mind the different version." I have had a friend do that for me before.  It was probably all accomplished within just a few hours (or even minutes) and you probably wouldn't ahve noticed.

As others said, it looks like the book was posted directly to someone's WL.

For the book that you have been 1 of 1 for, one possibility is that the book was offered on one of the WL threads. The person that requested it added the book to his or her WL in order for the book to be posted. So, in other words, up until the time the book was offered on the WL thread, you were the only wisher. Once the book was offered, someone added it to their WL. The book was posted, and you went back to being the only one in line.

The only time I offered a book on one of the WL threads, this is what happened. The person requesting the book put the book on her WL right before I posted it directly to her. She had not been on the WL prior to my offering the book on the forums. So, for anyone previously on that WL, they likely would not have noticed the number of wishers change, as it happened very quickly.

Couldn't it be that 2 other people were actually on the WL but just had the books or their shelves on hold? Or do people still show up as on the WL even with holds?

If it's possible they don't show up when on hold, those 2 people could have taken the book off hold and received the next two offers of the book because they were ahead of you in the WL line, just on hold for a certain time.

I also thought that if you put a book on auto request you go to the front of the line.  Could this be what happened?

No it doesn't move you to the front of the line if you put a book on autorequest.

I think it's probably likely that it's a combo of someone beign on vacation hold and people getting them through the WL threads.  I know I've had WL books on my reminder list, seen that someone has a couple of books I want and moved them from my RL to my WL so they can save on shipping.  I pretty neglectful of my WL and sometimes I don't move things from my RL to my WL when space opens up.  Mix in there a book that went lost and was posted quickly after and that could be a reason as well.

Also, someone that WL'd the book before you (when you were 2 of 2) could have just gotten their copy and it was bad or wrong or even went lost, then they would go to the front, and if someone at the same time as they went back to the front posted a copy, they would get it not you. Sounds like that would be high odds right? Consider we have over 80,000 members WITH profiles, and back when we had only about 20,000 PBS said that this was only about 2/3 the actual number of members, that means today we are probably well over 100,000 members. Makes the odds of all kinds of things seem a whole lot more plausible.

Just writing to let you know you are not alone!  I was in exactly the same place as you last month.  (started a different thread - "Wishlist notification question").  I had sat at #1 for 2 weeks, watching "wishlist granted" go by almost a dozen times.  Finally the wish was granted.   It's frustrating, for sure.

Looking at your wishlist I would really suspect it was posting directly to other members. The 3 genres I see that happen in most is paranormal, romance and mystery. Looks like most of your WL is paranormal and mystery. Keep an eye on the WL threads in those forums and in the Bazaar and maybe you can catch a group of your WL books too.

Slightly OT, but I post books to other members' WLs through the WL threads, unless it only has a few wishers.  Those, I automatically post FIFO, just because of situations like this one.  I mostly figure the one or two people who have been waiting forever for that book probably want it more than someone who only thinks to WL it when they know I have a copy, and I'm not too worried about a lot of FIFO rollovers when there are only a handful of wishers.   Plus, there's no issue of saving on postage if I only have one WL book to post.  About the only time I don't do that is if I have several WL books to post at once & my postage budget is running thin.
