Very graphic in spots. Not for the faint of heart. Good information that all parents and people who are concerned about the welfare of children should read.

I actually got this book because I needed to review it for a class on Child Sexual Exploitation but it was a really good read. I finished this book in one sitting because it was so interesting. The author tells the story of her son's almost molestation at the hands of a trusted friend and how that led her to a volunteer position assisting the FBI in catching internet predators. This book offers not only a look at the inside workings of an investigation but also a wealth of information aimed at keeping children safe. I am not only the mother of an adult son but also a criminal justice major. I consider myself to be quite savvy on not only the internet but also on how criminal minds work and how to protect myself and others. This author made me realize how little I actually do know. I highly recommend this book for anyone with children.

The work this author does is very commendable but reading about it.... it got repetitive very quickly. The book is full of the chats she had with these men online while posing as a 13 yr old and basically they all followed the same pattern. I was disappointed, I was hoping to read more about the problem itself (which she does touch on, but only briefly). As for the word "Harrowing" in the title of the book, I never found it. The closest she came to most of these men was giving her testimony in court. Not sure if "harrowing" is the correct word for that. She also felt the need to defend herself throughout the book, the reasons she does this, where she went to college, her degrees, I didn't feel that was pertinent. Her true reason was her son had been approached by a pedophile and she wanted to protect other children. Good enough reason right there.
