I think what I like best about this series are the main characters. The setting of the school seems realistic, too. I strongly recommend reading the first book in the series, Murder 101, before reading this one. This book does stand alone, but there is a lot of back story in the first one that will enhance the reading of this book. (Just a note for those who have read the first book: if you were a little turned off by Maggie's, er, nervous stomach (I know I was), that problem does not arise in this book.)

This is the first of Maggie Barbieri books I have read.
What a life she leads, unexpectedly murder is her middle name.
Glad I'm not her.
Murder 101 Mysteries is a smooth, fast moving read.
Quirky, romantic . . free-spirited blend.

I enjoyed the book although the characters were a bit confusing (who is who, I mean). Allison finds her ex-husband in her kitchen, not only dead, but without hands and feet. She is not the suspect this time but she feels compelled to find out who killed him. She is distracted by her "married" boyfriend, Crawford. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next one in this series.
