The story is a 1970's era female blend of Catcher in the Rye and I Never Promised You a Rose Garden. Far more engrossing than I expected. Not a feminist book, nor anti-feminist, simply a reality story of a young woman needing to be a little different and the consequences of the choices she makes. I liked her at the end of the book. Worth reading, a novel without pretense.
