Hi all - another question from this newbie.....

Yesterday I posted a "hidden gem" book in that forum.  Before I did so I checked to see whether there were other copies of the books posted and there were two others, obviously both posted before mine.  Then I received a reply to my message and a request that someone had requested my copy directly from me.  I said OK, of course, thinking perhaps that two other people saw my "hidden gem" post and had already requested the earlier-posted two copies, but I don't think it happened that way.

I just meant to draw attention to the book, not jump line with my copy.  I feel terribly about this.  Any thoughts?

Erin, people may order directly from your shelf if they wish. Many people offer deals on the Bazaar, and those involve direct orders from bookshelves. So don't worry about it. If you mentioned the book in Hidden Gems, it's likely the other copies will be ordered as well. :)

It's one of the perks of posting in the forums!  You didn't do anything wrong, don't worry about it.  Many people prefer to order from people they "know" through the forums.

Nope, you did nothing wrong at all.  Like was said, it's a perk of posting in the forums.  People tend to look at your shelf and order which they certainly can do.

You were just recommending a book.  You didn't even mention you had it on your bookshelf.  No, you didn't do anything wrong at all.  Relax and have fun!  : )

That's how I've gotten most of my books lately. I just browse other peoples shelves.

Yep, when I'm just browsing I'll check all the APO members first, partly because I'm APO too but also because I like the idea of helping out other military families like mine.  :)  I have lots of books on my wishlist that will go directly through FIFO, and sometimes I search by title, so it's not like I never use the regular system...

Don't worry about it at all. Many people order direct from other posters shelves and post directly to peoples WL. I do this a lot myself.  I know if someone's on here posting regularly, my WL book will not sit in limbo for days on end waiting for someone to accept it and the same with my book request.  I haven't made many because I have a lot of books to read already. But of the few times I've requested a book from FIFO it has gone through at least 2 people before being accepted.  So I look on other posters shelves first. The last time, I posted a series I was looking for on that genres boards.  Someone responded and gave me a great deal on several books.  She got some books off her shelf and I got a deal w/o having to wait for someone to finally accept the request.

ETA:I do post a lot of my WL books to FIFO too.  I don't want to get bashed for posting direct to other members too much.  I just check my buddy's out first.
