Found it----Darkness by John Saul :)


I hope this is ok to post here.

About 20 years-ish ago, maybe a little more/less, I read a book that was fascinating at the time but I cannot remember the author or title!

What I do remember:

It was either a doctor or medical researcher who discovered he could remove the fluid from the pituitary or thymus or pineal gland and use it as some sort of youth serum or elixir. He was getting desperate so he abducted someone (possibly a child not too clear on that detail) & kept him in some old abandoned hospital or basement where he could extract the juice little by little. I also seem to recall that he used a large needle to do it.

I've been searching for the title for a couple years at every used book store & library I encounter but I just can't figure it out :P

Anyone have some idea what this book title is?

It doesn't ring any bells with me, but have you tried Stop You're Killing Me site?  You could go to the "job index" and click on medical.  It will list authors and main characters and maybe something would ring a bell.  If you are really determined (LOL), you can then check on the author which will take you to a list of their books.  Clicking on each book will take you to Amazon and a brief summary of the book.  Best I can think of to find your book.
