Whether your students grow up to be commercial / scientific pest managers or not, they will at sometime need to read and understand a pesticide label, if only for home use. The pestcide label is Federal Law, and needs to be followed as written. Yet most people, even some so-called professionals, don't read or even understand how to read the label, or how to work out Federally-mandated pesticide solutions.

During my career as a member of the entomology faculty at a major university. I developed seven computer-verified training tutorials that are authorized by my state for training for the pest control industry. Two of these were funded by a grant from the EPA.

Label Tutorials - Five one-hour tutorials on specific insecticides. While these are on a specific label, they do not teach that pesticide but concentrate on teaching you how to read an existing label. Some simple math is required.

Core2 - Pesticide Labeling  - a 2-hour tutorial on a generic label. Taken from chapter 2 of the USDA / EPA manual Applying Pesticides Correctly.

Core6 - Emergency Responses to the Possible Harmeful Effects of Pesticides, Heat Stress and Heat Stoke - a 2-hour tutorial on possible short and long term pesticide poisoning and what happens if you suffer overexposure to the sun. Taken from chapter 6 of the USDA / EPA manual.

These tutorials may be downloaded for FREE at

They will install on any Windows operating system, but will not run on the newer 64-bit systems. This is why we are now posting them as free downloads.
