I liked this book but at times I thought it very confusing, when the story opens you think you know the direction of the plot BUT it goes in a different direction and then it turns again and then you think you know the ending BUT then it goes in another direction again sooooo---I'd say this is a well written book but yet it was confusing, thinking at times 'what does this have to do with the missing woman?' over and over

This is the second of three books in this exciting series. To recap, Doug Brock is a state cop who is recovering from a form of amnesia. He's gone back to work and is immediately caught up in a serious case. He is also trying to recover his former life and he's participating in an amnesia support group. A fellow amnesia group member, Sean Conner, asks to meet with Doug Brock.

Sean tells Doug that he found a scrapbook of a murder victim in his attic, but he doesn't remember the girl or why he created the scrapbook. Doug agrees to look into it. When Doug looks over the case, he finds that someone has been prosecuted and convicted of the crime. He also finds out that he was involved in working the crime. However, he doesn't remember anything about it.

David Rosenfelt plays the amnesia victim perfectly. The storyline is convincing and exciting. The story starts with the reader being confused by so many red herrings floating by and then the story picks up and races to a conclusion. I can't believe I'm saying this but I didn't miss Tara one bit (Tara is the important dog in the Andy Carpenter series by the same author).
