sorry if this has been asked before-I'm looking for any books based on a fairy tale from a villain's point of view. Or movies.Or even just a different telling in general. It doesn't have to be mainly romance, it can be ya but i'd rather it not be. I know of wicked, robin McKinley books, Carolyn Tuscan, cathy yardly, snow white and the huntsman movie and the grimm snow white. Thanks!

Gregory Maguire has also done the Confessions of a Wicked Step Sister.

not from the villains point of view but...

Daughter of the Forest (The Sevenwaters Trilogy, Book 1) by Juliet Marillier

a retelling of the 6 swans.

there is a rape scene if that is a no-go for you.

only the first book is about the fairy tale, the rest are about descendants.  there are some fairy tale elements in those, but I don't think they are based on a specific fairy tale.  And the books do continue after the original trilogy.  I read only the 1st trilogy and do like it a lot.

I wish I liked maguires' style of writing, but his books are hard for me to finish. I did like the wicked musical though. I've heard daughter of the forest is good, I need to check it out. is the trilogy closely combined? I also just remembered the black swan by Mercedes lackery is a reatelling of swan lake that I used to really really like

The trilogy is not that close.

the first book is focused on the sister in the 6 swans story.   the 2nd one is focused on her daughter  the 3rd one is focused on her grand-daughter   haven't read the addls since the first trilogy.

I did look thru my book list and tried to remember if some of them fit also :

how about Jasper Fforde - Tuesday Next books... not really a retelling but some fairy tale characters etc... I didn't really like the one I read, but I think they are rather popular.

Regina Doman -  I read one and I remember that I liked it, but I don't really remember much about it.

And one that I liked a lot, that isn't really a fairy tale base one but has some similarity.  The Princess Bride.  I read the book before the movie came out and loved it.  I was pleasantly surprised because I loved the movie too.  But I think the book wins out.

I remember liking princess bride a lot when I was younger, I don't know what happened to my copy. I will look up the other authors you mentioned.
