Faith Rewarded: A Personal Account of Prophetic Promises to the East German Saints
Faith Rewarded A Personal Account of Prophetic Promises to the East German Saints Author:Thomas S. Monson At the time Elder Thomas S. Monson was first assigned to supervise the work of the Church in East Germany, the country was under oppressive Communist rule. From that time forward, frequent trips brought him ever closer to the stalwart East German Saints, who opened their hears to the visiting apostle. In his journal he described the ... more »faithfulness of these Church members who could not receive patriarchal blessings, use Church lesson manuals, attend a temple, or send their children on missions. "Yet they trust in the Lord with all their hearts," he wrote.
In April 1975, Elder Monson stood on a hillside near the Elbe River and rededicated the land. In the prayer of rededication, the full blessings of the Church were promised to Saints behind the Iron Curtain. "Then the Lord took charge of things in the German Democratic Republic," President Monson later wrote.
Faith Rewarded offers readers the rare opportunity to read pages from President Monson's personal journal. These entries, arranged chronologically, tell heartwarming stories of individual Saints and combine to show the eventual fulfillment of every part of his prophetic prayer of rededication.« less
