I enjoyed this book and it's companion Falcon's honor about his brother.
Grieving for her betrothed, Giullaume du Pree, Lyonesse of Ryonne comes up with a plan to capture his murderer and kill him with her own hands to exact revenge. She plots to ambush Rhys, Lord of Faucon near her lands of Taniere and take him prisoner until she can find out just why he killed Giullaume.
Rhys has been sent by King Stephen to find out exactly who did kill Giullaume if he didn't and he knows that he did not. He has exactly one month to search out exactly who set him up. Rhys has had the reputation as Devil Faucon ever since it was rumored that he had murdered his wife Alyce and their infant son. Nobody but Rhys knows the true story. He feels it is in his best interest to have a bad reputation especially while about the King's business.
Neither Lyonesse nor Rhys is prepared for their instant attraction to each other. Nor are they prepared for the lies and deception that dogs their every turn. It's up to them to finally figure out what exactly is going on and why, or someone will end up dead- but exactly who it will be is up for question.
This medieval romance had all the things that I enjoy reading in a book, a mystery to solve and a hero and heroine who hate each other so much that when they finally realize they are in love, it's explosive! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one and look forward to reading more from Denise Lynn.
