I'm not quite sure that this book was as good as her other books, but it was definitely entertaining and even moving in parts. In the same style as her other novels, the book was littered with music references and witty wordplay. The different perspectives, spanning nearly the entire family, between the chapters kept it fresh and certainly added to the humour. It had some very funny moments, but the plot was, overall, a bit predictable. Perhaps my biggest complaint was how much of an unsympathetic hero Brett became. A lot of energy went into making him unlikable - even his own family seems to prefer Layla - and the arc of his character seemed a bit unbelievable. Still, it was cute and all in all a fun and fast read.

I like this author, but disliked this book! I just couldn't get into this one. The story was unrealistic and the characters were at times very annoying.
