This past year I have had a beloved uncle, 2 aunts, another uncle, and a close family friend (really like an uncle to me) pass away. Three of those has been in the past 5 months. I just feel overwhlemed by it all sometimes. My one aunt went to bed and just never woke up. My other aunt had inoperable cancer. They gave her 4-6 months, but she lasted almost a year. My uncle retired early and cared for her at home like a baby. She dearly hoped to avoid hospital stays and he was able to fulfull this for her. He was there at the end as she slipped away in her own home, in her own bed. His loving care of her was a tender example of sacrificial love. |

I am so sorry to hear of the losses in your family Pat. That is a lot for someone to deal with especially when they are close. When I was reading your post I thought of this scripture: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." It's great that your uncle was able to care for her as he did and that she could be at home. You may not ever know what an example that might be to others around them.
