I really wanted to like this book. It is supposed to be a cult classic. I just didn't get it. The author/narrator/protagonist is a misogynistic, narcissistic drunk. I didn't like him or feel any sort of connection to him. Yes - the writing is excellent. But halfway through the book I put it down and decided to pass it on to someone who might like it. Why should I prolong the agony when there are so many other good reads out there? That said, this book had tremendous reviews from the vast majority. I am clearly the minority.
