My Favorite Genre is "Home & Garden >> Crafts & Hobbies". On the homepage, in that genre, are books such as "Shotgunning: The Art & Science (by Winchester), home improvement, wedding, pets books, etc are listed in this genre? These books can be listed in different Home & Garden genres. Also, there are coloring books and other non-postable items that are being displayed on the home page under "Favorite Genres". If these items are not postable, why are they being spotlighted? Isn't this rewarding "bad behavior"? Please, can't we do something about clearing up these matters? Thanks to all for your input! 8-) me Last Edited on: 8/24/09 2:00 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I'd guess Shotgunning is considered a hobby? Edited because when I replied, the rest of the OP was not there- it ending after the mention of the Shotgunning book. There is a thread at the top of this forum for reporting suspicious items (such as coloring books etc). Last Edited on: 8/24/09 2:03 PM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

You can also edit or add genres by clicking on More Options > Edit Book Data for books with incorrect genres. The edits will then be submitted for approval. I've edited a few books that mistakenly were put into the children's genre (one was an erotica book!). Last Edited on: 8/24/09 2:08 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Whoa, erotica in childrens' books?! Thanks for the info Janelle! Have been uploading book covers for quite some time, but never thought about editing the genres. You're just full of ideas, aren't you? ;-) |

The genre is how books show up in searches. And banners. It is really important. The newly posted books show up in the banners. That is not what books are recommended, but by what is new. This is due to the fact that we run on volunteers rather than marketing/sales. |
