I found this book so intriguing I could hardly put it down. Sure, I learned about some of the history of the Mexican conquest in school, but this author puts so much into the real-life characters and there are so many mixed emotions going on...it definitely kept my interest and made me want to read more of his books. I feel like I have a real grasp on the time period and what both the conquistadors and the indigenous people of Mexico could have felt like during that scary/sad/amazing time.
