VICTORIA ALEXANDER:

Would you recommend her books?  Any more so then others?  Who has a writing style similar to her style?   Are her stories fun, light-hearted or more serious drama?

Thanks!

I'm way behind in reading her books - don't know if she's changed her style, but the books I read were light hearted (the Effington series). I'm not good at comparing authors - she's probably similar to Julia Quinn but I don't care for Quinn's books so I guess I like Alexander's humor/lightness much more than JQ's. I don't know of other authors like Victoria Alexander. I'd recommend her, or at least give her a shot.

oh, here I go again. LOL.

VA writes as light a historical as you are gonna find anywhere. So light that they are almost too shallow for me. She writes amusing stories altho humor is always subjective and I dont find her as funny as I should. her most famous series is about the family of Effingtons. The series is in the double digits.

Leslie LaFoy is the one whose writing is most similar to VA. imo, but dunno if u ever read her since VA is the more famous author.

She seems similar to Quinn to me, perhaps because I don't find either of them funny. :-(  Jillian Hunter also comes to mind as a comparison.

I love Victoria Alexander.  The Effington series is really good.  Would compare her to Julia Quinn( who I love as well) .  I would recommend them!

Quinn & Hunter are good comparisons - and I'm not a fan of any of them:P  I enjoyed The Lady In Question, but it's been a few years since I read it, so I couldn't even say why.  I know I glommed quite a few others & tried a few, and then got rid of all of them because they didn't do anything for me.  Not bad or anything, but I just found them kinda dull.
