Anyone know of any fictional Haunted House stories other than the ones I've listed below? I love a good fictional Haunted house story! Of course I've read everything by Stephen King, but not sure if "The Shining" counts as a Haunted house (hotel) story. I've ranked mine in order of best to worst books.

1. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

2. The House That Jack Built by Graham Masterson (I think)  this is on my bookshelf if anyone wants a good, scary read

3. The Amityville Horror

4. Hell House by Richard Matheson  --I just wasn't impressed.

The Loveliest Dead by Ray Garton...

Haven't read this book yet, but just from the back description, I may have to sleep with the lights on after reading this one. This is the next on my list to read.

Burnt Offerings by Robert Marasco.  It's an oldie but goodie.

Another vote for Susie Maloney's The Dwelling.  One of the best haunted house stories I've read in a very long time.

Those are all good ones.

Also, House of Pain - by Sephera Giron

The Tower by Simon Clark

Prey - by Graham Masterton

There was one by Tamara Thorne that was excellent as well, Haunted?

I'm sure I'll think of some more by brainstorming.
