The author, Christa Weil, is a good writer and there were several entries in which she had me chuckle aloud. A portion of her entry on Botfly Larvae is among her best: "Botfly larvae are parasites that burrow in a pronounced lump underneath the pelt of their host. It is possible for a skilled larva extractor to coax them out whole via their airholes. The technique is not unlike self-treatment of a mature pimple, except the herder ate what came out."
