This is a great book for gaining an understanding of the fiery cuisines and ingredients from around the world. I count some of the recipes from this book as family favorites! I originally picked it up out of self-defense. :) I was a young cook with no knowledge of spicey foods and my world-travelled husband kept threatening to slip things in on my unsuspecting palate. :( In reading this book and trying some of the recipes, I learned to appreciate the kick from zesty, fiery ingredients and developed the ability to cook some kickin' dishes myself by approaching these previously unfamiliar ingredients the right way. Even if you are already familiar with various hot cuisines, I believe the information would be interesting.
