with all the learning/behavior issues that no one can figure out..hs the last couple of years has helped some but not as much as it could, and honestly it has been a huge stress on me as well, esp since I am the only one working as well.

My daughter expressed wanting to go back to school, we are not opposed to that idea, but don't want her to become overwhelmed and frustrated. So, I talked with the alternative programs coordinator and the school district and we have enrolled her in an online program that she can do from home. Takes some of the pressure off of me, and will hold her more accountable for her own work. She will possibly join some after school activities to be with more people her age..I think that is something she has been missing. Although she has friends, we have never been able to catch up with the local hs groups much because it seems I am the only mom who works, even though I have all afternoons free, they do most things in the mornings.

So, she will start her online program and possibly after Christmas will start going to an alternative middle school where they do regular coursework but also hands on projects building things learning how to work together. Depending on how the online program is, I may add some things as well.

My youngest will start kindergarten at the local elem school. We'll see how she does. I think she will do well because she loves her books and works on letters and counting on her own. I plan on being very involved in the school.

I also think it will do them both good to be away from each other some during the day. My youngest really distracts my oldest.

We'll see how it all works out...subject to change at any time for whatever is best for my girls. I am so glad there are options these days for education other than just turning them loose in the ps system and being done with it.

Sounds good and you know your options are always open.
