I have about 26 books on my public bookshelf. I was doing some organizing yesterday and there are a couple that I can't find. They have not been requested yet. My question is can I just put individual books on hold so they don't get requested or do I have to put my whole shelf on hold? Last Edited on: 7/23/11 11:14 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Yes you can put individual books on hold - but I *think* you will lose your place in the FIFO queue for those books. eta 'for those books'

Yes, any book you place on hold on your Bookshelf will lose it's place in line. This does not apply to Wishlisted books that you put on hold. Good luck in locating the books. Pat |

Do you ever do any deals? That is usually how I "lose" books. I now use the ship to a friend option as I was forgetting to remove the deal books. |

Do you have family/friends who "borrow" books without telling you? |

Two suggestions: sort your bookshelf by date, and look to see what other books you posted on the same date. Sometimes that will jog my memory. Or search your personal messages for a keyword in the title of one of the books -- both messages to you, and messages from you. If you told anyone you were going to enclose one of the books as a freebie, that's a good way to find it. |

I'm thinking the books might have found their way to the box I donated to the Friends of the Library. I'm still looking. I don't really want to lose my place in the FIFO line. |

I fall back on this option more often than I care to admit to. Sometimes it just takes that little memory jog. At times I can't see the forest for the trees, scanning the bookshelves where I have my PBS books stacked looking for a specific book, and the re-sort will do it for me most of the time. Gail |
