After reading a review of a new Jeffrey Lent book, After You've Gone, and trying to use pbs list import, one of his prior books keeps coming up.  The ISBN number, when copied from both Amazon and B & N, keeps bringing up the book War Gardens.  I have no better luck when I type in the title.  Any suggestions?

Is it possible the book was retitled?  I've heard of something similar that happened with a book that was re-released under a new title.  Same book, same ISBN, just a different name.

Thanks, Bernhard.  It's very confusing.  The review in the NY Times and the synopsis on pbs for War Gardens and After You're Gone do not sound like the same book.  The publication dates are different (2008 and 2009), which, of course could be if the book was released under a new tite.  The pbs picture shows the book that I'm looking for with After You're Gone on the front, but it comes up as War Gardens.  Neither Amazon or fantasticfiction.com show a Jeffrey Lent book entitled War Gardens.  Curiouser and curiouser!

Could War Gardens be the name of the series and it was put as the book name instead of After You've Gone (War Gardens)?

This is truly a puzzle, and I can only believe that the PBS database is wrong - even the picture shows the book titled "After You've Gone". The synopsis of the 2 books sounds like War Gardens (young Henry Dorn) precedes After You've Gone (widower Henry Dorn). (I'm not even interested in the book, just the puzzle of what book is which!!) Maybe a library search would help? My library shows the ISBN is for After You've Gone just like Amazon.com shows it - 9780871138941 (softcov.) :, 0871138948 (softcov.)

Not sure what you would get if you ordered it thru PBS though, since no one should post this ISBN if the title doesn't match. Keep us updated!

ETA: you can "order the book" without completing the order and at least PM the first person on the FIFO list to find out which book they actually have.

It might be worth contacting PBS and advising them that the books might be wrong in the system.  I don't know if they'll change it on a WL book but they will at least look into it and adjust the title or description.

You can edit a description  yourself but if the title is wrong then that doesn't help.

Thanks, all.  I'll try contacting pbs about it.  Glad to know that it's not just me that can't figure it out.

I found a brief mention of War Gardens on someone's blog- "back in 2005, a novel called "War Gardens" was supposed to be published. over 600 pages".

It's possible that the book was shelved and then released, but not under the original name.

I also found this on Powells: http://www.powells.com/biblio/73-9780871138941-0 It references both titles.

whippoorwill, on your link, the second synopsis does not sound like the same book, After You've Gone, and it doesn't name the book.  Then, looking at the synopsis of War Gardens, I've seen that before.

However, no where else can I find the title War Gardens as a book by Jeffrey Lent.  Perhaps I should just leave what pops up (Title:  War Gardens; picture--book with title of After You've Gone), wait for an acceptance and then pm the sender to see which the book is.  And, as I said above, I suppose that I could contact pbs and see it they can figure it out.
