This is the fourth book in the series, though each book is self-contained,about the Bonner family in the nineteenth century settling of upper NY state. I hope there are many others to follow.

At least I wont have to wait long for the next one, fall 2006.
This was good and as usual well written, deep descriptions, full emotions. Just took a bit before I remembered who was who. Maybe I will do a reread!

This saga first caught my eye with the first book "Into the Wilderness" and as I read I was reunited with some old friends from the classic novel "The Last of the Mohicans", Hawkeye, and Chingachgook. I was enchanted from then on, and enjoyed reading the continuing story and knowing that Hawkeye and his family live in even if just in this saga. If you loved the novel by James Fenimore Cooper so will love Sara Donati's saga of the Bonner family... It is a must read...

The most recent (4th)novel of the Bonner family. It takes place during the summer of 1812. Strong women characters in this historical fiction.

One of the disks is mislabeled and belongs to another book; however, we thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book that we were able to overlook the fact that we couldn't listen to one of the disks. If you're a Sara Donati fan, then this one's for you.
