I thought this was the best of the Captain's Table series. We get to see all the best of Janeway's qualities on display--confidence, tenacity, leadership, daring, compassion...and also experience her grief at losing Voyager and frustration with her situation. For the captain is alone among people who have never met an alien being before, and has to learn their strange technology and concepts of honor. The threat that took her away from her ship and crew must be heading for this star system soon...and no one believes her.

Then again, I'm not a huge fan of Janeway, if you like Voyager, you'll like the captain's table VOY book.
